Like hiring a repairman to fix your HVAC, hiring an Interior Designer is a sensible and worthwhile investment. Your home is where you spend most of your days. It's the first thing you see in the morning and the last at night. It's where you are stretched and challenged. It's where you have set backs and where you push forward. It's an incredibly intimate place that deserves your attention and care. But the best care you can give it is by hiring an Interior Designer.
Interior Designer's balance the aesthetics with functionality. While it must work for you and your lifestyle it also needs to look amazing and stimulate you to live your best life. Hiring an Interior Designer can be intimidating and maybe you aren't quite sure that it's worth the time it takes to find the right designer. Or maybe you don't think it's worth the money to actually hire one. Well, here are what I believe to be the top 6 reasons you should hire an Interior Designer.
1. Saves You Time
While these aren't listed in a specific order, this is one of the biggest reasons Interior Designers are valuable. We save you time during every single step. I've gone to school and have worked years in the field, I know what to do and how to do it.
I take measurements of your space and then create furniture plans to see what size furniture will fit. This means you don't have to take measurements yourself but it also means that you never run into the issue of buying something that doesn't fit and having to return it.
I then get to know your style. Finding your style is pivotal to being happy with your home. But understanding your style, for most, is a hard task. It involves dissecting rooms into what you like and dislike and figuring out the "why". Which means you need to have a basic understanding of the differences of styles and their moods. Deciphering your style is half of my job. I'm proficient, I know what to look for, what questions to ask, and how to get to your root style quickly.
Then comes the actual furniture and accessory selection. This is the phase that I save you the most time on. You don't have to spend time figuring out which sofa goes with which chair and side table and making sure they are proportional, they have materials that suite your lifestyle, they are within the budget, and they look all cohesive together. That is all on me. And because I do this all day, every day, I've gotten good at doing it rather fast;)
2. Saves You Money
My goal is to give you a home you are proud of within your means, within your budget. And because of my vast knowledge of all things design I am able to save you lots of money. For example, I know which companies have quality furniture for good prices, I know which contractors do great work and have fair costs, and I know which materials last longer and wear better. Another way I save you money is with my Trade Accounts. I have a huge array of stores that I get discounts with and I pass those discounts onto my clients. Lastly, you know the term, "time is money", because I am saving you so much time, I have saved you money.
3. Acting as a Liaison
If contractors and architects intimidate you, then this is a huge benefit. I act as a liaison between you and and any other home specialist. I make sure they are doing their work and that it is up to my design standards so that you don't have to worry. I also know the lingo and am able to relay all information back to you. Communication between you, a contractor, and me as a Designer is key to having the project be speedy and cost effective. My purpose is to make every aspect of the home designing and renovating process as smooth and easy as possible.
4. A Vast Collection of Resources & Contacts
Part of what allows me to work quickly is knowing where to look first. I know which stores carry your style, a specific item, and at what price point. This is because I've worked with tons of different products and companies and have a big list of favorites. I have the know-how as well as the know-where.
I also know what contractors and/or other professionals to go to for different circumstances. If you need painting, tiling, a new mantel, plumbing, a chandelier put up, you name it, I know who to go to.
5. Knowledgeable About Products & Materials
Part of what saves you money is steering you toward products that will last. That means knowing how materials will wear over the years. If you have kids and animals, I will suggest hardier performance fabrics. And because I know where to get the best items, your home will look stunning and unique-- like you!
6. Knows how to get the end Result
In the end, what will have you thrilled with my services is your home. Designing a home is full of moving parts. Design and functionality have to be fully present as well as the details and the big picture. All of the tiniest details amount to creating a beautifully designed home. This is why there needs to be thoughtful consideration for each decision. Throughout everything, budgets, materials, and architects, I will navigate you to your dream home. Part of what makes me a good interior designer is being able to weed out the great from the okay. For instance, if we are choosing a coffee table for your living room, there are thousands of different styles and choices. My job is to narrow it down to one. And that's just one piece of furniture. For a living room I also have to chose a sofa, chair, side tables, tv console, lamps, art, window coverings, and the list goes on. In a few hours I have to dwindle millions of possible concoctions down to one or two. And I don't like I said, I don't settle for okay. The design for your home needs to work now and in the future. It needs to grow with you. And it needs to be as beautiful and one-of-a-kind as you. I've spent years crafting my skill as a designer and I hope that I can help you transform your home!
